28 clips

Picked automatically from a live search of 23 sites and refreshed daily. Hover a clip to preview it; posters and previews load straight from the source, never through this site. Each clip belongs to its creator: check its licence on the source page before you publish.

Made for phones

Vertical footage fills a phone screen without cropping, which is exactly what short-form platforms want. Free vertical stock is rarer than landscape, so this collection keeps only clips whose frame is taller than it is wide: NASA’s vertical versions of its visualisations, phone-shot clips on Wikimedia Commons and other portrait footage from the sources searched live.

Using vertical clips

Keep the subject and any text in the middle of the frame: platforms put the caption, account name and buttons along the bottom and right. Check the resolution badge, since many phone uploads are smaller than 1080×1920. Pexels has a large vertical library too, linked from every search.

Questions

What size should vertical video be?
1080×1920 is the standard for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and Stories. Clips here show their real frame size; filter by 1080p to keep only those that fill it.
Can I turn landscape footage into vertical?
Yes, by cropping the centre of the frame, but you keep only about a third of the width. Start from 4K so the crop stays sharp, or let the sequence builder crop for you.
